You have the statement, you have the account number and the payment page still says it cannot find your bill. Before you assume something is wrong, work through the usual reasons.
Common reasons
- A typo or missing prefix in the account number
- The bill is not posted online yet
- You are on the wrong payment website
- The bill belongs to a different provider than you expected
- The page needs additional details, such as a zip code or date of birth
Try these in order
- Re-enter the number exactly as printed, including any letters or dashes.
- Check that the web address matches the statement.
- Try the details the page asks for, such as the patient’s name or date of birth.
- Wait a day if the statement is very new.
- Call the billing office.
When to call
If the number is correct and the address matches, the billing office can tell you whether the account is active and which site to use. Do not keep retrying many times.
If you only have a text or email
Find the original statement or your provider’s own website. Do not rely on a link in a message you did not expect. See how to find your payment portal and how to spot a fake payment website.
If the bill is not yours
If the name does not match, tell the billing office and do not pay. The full payment guide covers more situations.
